3271 Main Street, College Park, GA 30337

Cost: $5 | Bring the kids -- 8 yrs+ welcome!

Spring is a time for planting and cultivating. Join GAPABA's Community Service Committee for a morning of planting and gardening at the Metro Atlanta Urban Farm. The farm grows more than 8 varieties of tomato and 3 varieties of okra, canola greens, kohlrabi, Swiss chard, spinach, various varieties of lettuce, turnips and collards. It has several acres of growing space, a few growing tunnels and a community garden on site.

Activity: Volunteers will be helping with weeding, planting, cleaning out grow tunnels, spreading woodchips around fruit trees, and some farm beautification projects. You don't need any gardening experience, just a willingness to learn and work outdoors!

Parking: The farm is located behind a large, white house on Main Street. Volunteers can enter through the driveway (located right next to a Marathon Gas Station) and park behind the house.

What to wear: Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots with a tread on the bottom.  Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Long pants or jeans is recommended.

Provided: GAPABA will provide water and snacks. There is a restroom on site.

Food Well Alliance is coordinating the volunteer workday at Metro Atlanta Urban Farm. Food Well is a nonprofit that supports over 300 local community gardens, urban farms, and orchards. The organization’s mission is to provide resources and support to local growers to connect and build healthier communities. They seek to create an equitable, local food ecosystem in which everyone can participate and benefit. In addition to joining us for this volunteer workday, consider making a donation to Food Well to support local growers across metro Atlanta.
